February 25, 2016 - “Archer", a bright red, 14 foot tall aluminum sculpture by artist John Henry, is the newest permanent installation in Rice University’s public art collection. The sculpture was recently installed in the outdoor area near Brockman Hall for Physics, and was made possible through a generous gift to Rice by Leslie ’69 and Brad Bucher '65.
Henry's large-scale works have been commissioned and acquired for public viewing by numerous institutions and public art programs over the last five decades. Influenced by Constructivist and Minimalist principles, Henry’s “Archer” complements Rice University’s public art holdings, featuring works by Jaume Plensa, James Surls, and Michael Heizer.
